Creative Beach Crafts & Hands-On Play Ideas

Beach-themed crafts that preschoolers will love!  

Seashell Collage  

Kids love exploring textures, and a seashell collage is a great hands-on craft! 
What You Need:
- Real or printable seashell cutouts 
- Glue or glue sticks 
- Colored construction paper 
- Sand (optional for texture)  

Steps:  

1. Set up the materials – Give each child a sheet of paper and a handful of seashells. 
2. Arrange the shells – Encourage kids to place them in fun patterns. 
3. Glue them down – Let them stick the shells onto the paper. 
4. Add decorations – Sprinkle some sand or draw waves for extra texture. 
5. Let it dry – Once the glue is set, display the creations!  

This craft lets kids explore textures while designing their own ocean-inspired masterpiece! 


Paper Sandcastle Craft 

A simple cut-and-paste project to create custom sandcastles. 
What You Need:
- Brown or tan construction paper 
- Scissors 
- Glue 
- Markers, stickers, or glitter for decorating 

Steps:  

1. Cut out shapes – Help kids cut rectangles, triangles, and squares to build their sandcastle. 
2. Arrange the pieces – Stack them to create the castle shape. 
3. Glue everything down – Attach the shapes to a background paper. 
4. Decorate – Add windows, flags, or draw waves around it! 
5. Showcase the castles – Put them on display for a classroom sandcastle village!  

 This craft encourages creativity as kids design their own sandcastle creations! 

 Ocean Animal Puppets  

Make puppets to bring ocean animals to life in pretend play. 
What You Need:
- Printable ocean animal templates or blank paper for freehand drawing 
- Popsicle sticks or straws 
- Crayons or markers 
- Tape or glue  

Steps:  

1. Print or draw ocean animals – Dolphins, whales, fish, and starfish work great! 
2. Color the animals – Let kids get creative with colors and patterns. 
3. Cut them out – Trim around the shapes. 
4. Attach to sticks – Tape or glue each animal onto a popsicle stick or straw. 
5. Play time! – Kids can use their puppets for storytelling or ocean-themed pretend play.
